Solar Landscape Lighting – Why We Decided to Go Solar for Our Outdoor Lighting
When we bought our house, we only saw it in the daytime. However, now that we’ve been here for a couple of months, we both noticed that it’s kind of dark here at night. I was leafing through a landscaping design magazine the other day while I was in line at the grocery store and I saw a short article about outdoor landscape lighting. I remember which magazine it was but the article made an impression on me.
When I got home, I told my honey about. We both agreed that adding some solar landscape lighting would be a great idea to add some light and color to our property at night. We also liked the idea that electric company wasn’t going to come bothering us for more money.
The first thing we did was start reading solar landscape lighting reviews, just to get an idea of what was available. We soon discovered there are many types of solar powered landscape lighting available, from solar powered driveway lights to string lights. There are even floating solar lights and put in your pool or pond.
The ones we decided to go with were solar powered LED landscape lights. We chose LEDs mainly because it will probably be years before we have to replace any of the bulbs. We read that they last from between 30,000 to 40,000 hours. Even if you figure that nighttime is only eight hours on average for 365 days, that’s still just under 3000 hours. Which means it should be about 10 years before we have to start worrying about changing bulbs out. And with the latest technology is improving, who knows will be available then question mark.
We can’t wait to finish the projects we have in mind. It’s kind of exciting knowing that our solar landscape lighting projects will soon be finished, and our home will be beautifully lit at night.
