Do you shop at your local grocery store for produce yet find that what you buy is lacking in flavor and tastes bland? Or maybe you don’t have the time or space for gardening but would like to enjoy the harvest of freshly picked produce that is organic and bursting with flavor. One way to enjoy in the fruits of someone else’s labor is through a CSA ( Community Supported Agriculture) farmer. With a CSA farmer, you can buy shares in that years vegetable or fruit crop and have weekly produce boxes delivered right to your door. Many of these CSA farmers also allow you to offset some of the costs by providing work-shares where you actually put in your own sweat-equity. Not only will you benefit by some weekly exercise by weeding and hoeing the rows of vegetables but you also can save money on your grocery bill.
If you are interested in getting involved with a CSA farmer, you can find more information at LocalHarvest.org where you can search for a local CSA farmer in your area that you can support.
