There has been a lot of hype about compost tumblers, but the bottom line is that they make life a lot easier and deliver a final product in a much shorter space of time.

Compost tumblers are closed systems to we don’t get smells and mess like we do if we build our own compost bin. We don’t have to worry about rodents or animals digging out the contents and making a huge mess either. They are simply super efficient.

We just add in anything raw and organic and about a month later we get a great quality compost to put on the garden. They work so effectively and efficiently as we are rotating the barrel a few times a week. It works almost like magic to increase the speed at which we get compost. It would be like digging over our compost heap this often to get a nice high and even temperature.

Large Compost Tumblers

For larger ones then the Tumbleweed compost tumbler has to be one of the best options. Although it is a vertical model and personally I prefer the horizontal models.

They never get bottom heavy so they are usually easier to deal with. But this is just down to personal opinion and it will also be based on the amount of outdoor space that you have too.
